Biography

If you ask him why he chose Bikini Rumble as a pseudonym, you will get in return a curious smile and advice to perhaps look it up on the net . As you can see by that remark, Bikini Rumble is all about questioning, searching and researching. That is his technique to go into traveled and untouched places of sounds and ideas. He can explore past musical periods for inspiration as well as be motivated by what is currently on the radio or live scene.

Deeply impressed by Hendrix's « Electric Ladyland » found in a pile of his dads vinyls, Bikini Rumble began borrowing a good number of guitar classics from Jimmy, Deep Purple, ACDC, La Mano Negra and Noir Desir, and eventually adapted his line of fire towards grunge and fusion during the Nirvana, Sonic Youth, Red Hot and Beastie Boys period.

Throughout this "exercise" came the experimentation phase and the research for personal musical identity. This came about via homemade editing; looping a 7 inch vinyl onto a cassette player and over dubbing the whole with guitar riffs. 7 years after his first guitar, he aquires his first computer. This new tool permits him to finally put into form his ideas, naturally enabling him to discover his electronic identity: Bikini Rumble. The influence of the ever growing Trip Hop scene with Portishead & Co and Björk will make him tune his ear towards Ambient, Dub and Electro beats, combining his saturated accords with crude and hypnotizing loops. Within this overflow of energy, a couple of Big Beat tracks will come to life as well.

Bikini Rumble will put out his first demo, and is immediately signed by Key on A records ( a label of Montera Music) for the album Almost Hydrofoiling. This opus results in the synthesis of his influences: marrying the melancholy of the Wild Bunch ('bikini girl' feat. T-Ka), re discovering his first electronic loves ('gypsy', 'super science man' and 'dont still my bike') and "letting himself go" with electronic pop ('reconstructed canon' and 'chauds les marrons').

The album is harmonized with the featurings of Dred, DJ from the FMR radio and member of the "Gimmy some more" team, T-Ka, divine soul vocalist and 9th Cloud, invited to remix the track 'Coton' in his Abstract Hip Hop style. Its With the Dred's prescence that the title 'Gipsy' was born, which more than efficiently introduces the album. T-Ka brings her warm vibes on the 'Bikini Girl' and 'Maui' tracks, which takes us on a journey through Trip Hop, Nu Soul and Electro. This amazing blend brings forth an equally balanced "live set" feel of Dub, Electro and touches of the 70's.

Give yourselves the listening pleasure of the smooth and enticing sounds of Bikini Rumble.
